Dr. Anne Pylkas is the Medical Director at Sage Prairie. She is a board certified internal medicine and addiction medicine. She is a graduate of the University of Minnesota, completing her residency at Hennepin County Medical Center. She is an active member of the Minnesota Chapter of the American Society of Addiction Medicine. She served as the medical director for overdose prevention at the Steve Rummler Hope Network and is currently the Chair of the Minnesota Opioid Epidemic Response Advisory Committee. Dr. Pylkas has been in the field of Addiction Medicine for over ten years. She mentors many and is a leader in changing the way substance use disorders are treated in Minnesota.

Dr. Amelia Burgess, MD

Dr. Amelia Burgess is a board-certified pediatrician who focuses on addiction medicine for adolescents. She has been working in the field of addiction medicine since 2016, and has worked with families experiencing foster care for over 20 years. She is a graduate of Weill Cornell Medical College (NY). She completed her pediatric residency at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation (OH), followed by a fellowship in primary care pediatrics focused on foster care and adolescent health at the University of Minnesota. She teaches toxicology and addiction medicine at UNIFA Faculty of Medicine in Haiti. Services offered: medical treatment for opioid, nicotine, and alcohol use disorders; evaluation for fetal alcohol syndrome.

Emily Brunner, MD
Emily Brunner, MD

Dr. Emily Brunner went to MIT for undergraduate to study Neuroscience, and then University of Michigan to complete her M.D. and family practice residency. She is board-certified in both family medicine and addiction medicine, and previous practice includes working at Hazelden Betty Ford as well as St Joseph's hospital and a pain and addiction medicine clinic in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Dr. Brunner will be starting the first video gaming disorder treatment program in Minnesota in addition to practicing full-spectrum outpatient addiction medicine. She is very passionate about helping people, and will see patients as young as 12 as well as OB patients.

Heidi Andrews has been working at Sage Prairie since May 2020. She received her PharmD from University of Minnesota in 2015 and completed a two year leadership residency program through the University of Minnesota in 2017.She recently became a Board Certified Ambulatory Care Pharmacist. Heidi currently lives in Robbinsdale with her husband, Scott, and a 1.5 year old Boston Terrier named Axel.

Amy is a graduate of St. Catherine University and received her Masters in the Family Nurse Practitioner Program from Frontier Nursing University. She and her husband have two grown children, and enjoy hiking in Minnesota’s great state parks with their two dogs. Amy also enjoys gardening and keeping chickens.

Sara is a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. She obtained her Associate’s Degree in Nursing at Hibbing Community College before moving on to obtain her Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Master of Science in Nursing at The College of St. Scholastica. She has worked in the healthcare field for over 10 years in various settings. She provides psychiatric consultation and medication management services to those suffering from a wide range of mental health concerns including mood disorders, anxiety disorders, and psychotic disorders.

  • Addiction Medicine Physicians specialise in the medical and behavioral care associated with substance use disorders. Addiction medicine providers have a variety of backgrounds, including internal medicine, family medicine, pediatrics and psychiatry, but they also have specialty training in addiction medicine.     Avivo is a Minnesota-based non-profit organization that provides mental health, substance use disorder and case management services. Sage Prairie is Avivo’s medical care partner, providing medical and addiction medicine care to their clients in treatment centers and transitional housing.
  • Reed Psychological Services:
    Reed Psychological Services is Sage Prairie’s preferred behavioral healthcare provider. They have sites in the west metro, but also have providers embedded within Sage Prairie’s Eagan location. Ask your provider for a referral today.
  • Gateway Recovery Center:
    Minnesota’s Premiere Detox Center, call 1-833-DETOX-80 for help, 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, or ask for care provider if a referral is appropriate.
  • Wayside Recovery Center: Sage Prairie provides addiction medicine services to clients in Wayside’s womens and family treatment centers.
  • Start Today Hennepin: Start Today Hennepin provides housing and case management services for people living in Hennepin County. Sage Prairie is assisting Start Today Hennepin with medical and addiction medicine care in transitional housing.

Sage Prairie takes all major insurance plans, including medicare and Minnesota Medical Assistance.

Our providers are available Monday through Friday, 8AM to 4:30 PM for scheduled visits.

Walk-ins are not available at this time.
